Farmington, CT (April 25, 2017) – Centene Corporation, the Official Youth Wellness Partner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, hosted the first Strong Youth, Strong Communities (SYSC) Summit of the year at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, April 12. The nationwide initiative is investing in today’s youth to positively impact current and future communities. SYSC equips youth with life skills, resources, and leadership-focused engagement to unlock potential, promote active thinking and sound judgment, and connect them with adult thought leaders and mentors committed to developing youth leaders.
In partnership with Envolve PeopleCare and Pennsylvania Health & Wellness, Pro Football Hall of Famers Darrell Green, Anthony Muñoz and Aeneas Williams were joined at the summit by the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, community leaders, mentors and health experts, to lead discussions on topics such as bullying and self-esteem.
There was an interactive presentation by the Hall of Famers where they shared real- life experiences that led to their successes on and off the field. The students also participated in breakout sessions where they discussed issues that are important to them and the daily challenges they face. The free summit was open to all local Pittsburgh middle and high school students. Overall, the event was very successful with over 100 youth in attendance.
We look forward to the upcoming Strong Youth, Strong Communities event in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 20. For more information on how we can partner with your organization for the upcoming summits, please contact Christina Rehbein at EnvolvePeopleCare@envolvehealth.com.
